Avalanche Summary

Strong winds on Tuesday will drift snow into thick, hard slabs of snow. This is where you are most likely to trigger an avalanche. With southwest winds shifting to the west, snow will be deposited onto easterly slopes. Avoid steep easterly slopes with fresh drifts of snow, especially open slopes below ridgetop. Shooting cracks and a hollow-sounding snowpack are warning signs. Any avalanche that you trigger in drifted snow can break into more deeply buried layers resulting in a big avalanche.
