Avalanche Activity

A critical avalanche situation will persist in some cases.

As a consequence of warming during the day and solar radiation more medium-sized to large moist and wet avalanches are possible. New snow and wind slabs can be released and reach medium size, especially in high Alpine regions. The current avalanche situation calls for caution.

Snowpack Structure

The prevalence of the avalanche prone locations will increase as the day progresses. Such avalanche prone locations are to be found at the base of rock walls and behind abrupt changes in the terrain and adjacent to ridgelines and in gullies and bowls. In all aspects medium-sized and, in isolated cases, large avalanches are possible. Avalanches can be released by a single winter sport participant.

Tendency

As a consequence of warming during the day avalanches are to be expected as the day progresses, even quite large ones.
