Avalanche Activity

The sometimes strong wind has transported the new snow. The fresh snow of the last two days and in particular the wind slabs to be found above the tree line represent the main danger. The wind slabs are mostly small but to be assessed with care and prudence, especially on very steep slopes adjacent to ridgelines and in gullies and bowls. At low altitude only a little snow is lying. Be careful, many rocks hidden by fresh snow.

Snowpack Structure

20 to 25 cm of snow, and even more in some localities, fell in the last two days above approximately 1800 m. As a consequence of new snow and a moderate to strong wind, wind slabs formed. Above the tree line snow depths vary greatly, depending on the infuence of the wind. In all altitude zones only a small amount of snow is lying for the time of year.
