Forecast Snow Stability: Unstable windslab will continue to develop, mainly on North to East aspects above 900 metres. Gully tops and corrie rims will be most affected. Fragile cornices will also continue to develop in these locations. Isolated pockets of unstable windslab may also be encountered in steep sheltered terrain in other locations. Elsewhere, there will be a cover of snow on most aspects. The avalanche hazard will be Considerable.

Snowpack Structure

Forecast Weather Influences: Winds strengthening from the South overnight, strongest around dawn, then easing and veering Westerly during the afternoon. Snow showers moving over the area during the night, potentially heavy. Forecast to be dry during the day. Freezing levels lifting to around 700 metres. Observed Weather Influences: Light snow overnight at all levels then dry and bright during the day. Winds strengthening from the West, light drifting from early afternoon. ObservedSnowStability: There is a covering of snow on most aspects with occasional deep drifts from 600 metres. Areas of unstable windslab persist, mainly on steep sheltered terrain on North-East to South-East aspects above 900 metres with localised instabilities in other locations above 800 metres. The avalanche hazard is Moderate.
