Points saillants

Continually assess conditions as you move through terrain.

Wind slabs could exist on high north facing terrain and wet loose avalanches could be triggered on steep, sunny slopes.

Moderate

  • We are uncertain due to a limited number of field observations.

Avalanche Summary

No new avalanches have been reported in this region but observations have been limited.

Snowpack Summary

20 to 40 cm of recent storm snow, that was accompanied by moderate southwest wind, overlies the early February crust/facet layer.

A widespread crust and facet layer from late January is buried 30 to 60 cm deep.

The mid and lower snowpack is generally well settled and strong.

Terrain and Travel Advice

  • Be careful with wind-loaded pockets, especially near ridge crests and rollovers.
  • Be alert to conditions that change with aspect and elevation.
  • Be aware of the potential for loose avalanches in steep terrain where snow hasn't formed a slab.
