Terrain and Travel Advice
- Adjust your travel plans accordingly to the changing conditions of elevation and time of day.
- Remember that in the spring strong solar radiation and warm temperatures can weaken the snow in a matter of minutes.
- Cornices become weak with daytime heating or solar exposure.
- Cornice failure may trigger large avalanches.
- Rain or periods of intense solar radiation can rapidly enhance the effects of warming.
