Points saillants

Travel cautiously near any terrain trap, such as cliffs. Hitting buried obstacles is a real threat during the early season.

Snowpack Summary

Snow depth varies rapidly with elevation. No snow exists below 1000 m. Around 20 to 40 cm of snow exists at treeline. Up to 80 cm may be found in the high alpine.

A dusting of snow on Saturday will overly a hard melt-freeze crust. There are no deeper concerns within this shallow early-season snowpack.

Use extreme caution when travelling, as buried obstacles are a real threat.

Terrain and Travel Advice

  • Use caution above cliffs and terrain traps where even small avalanches may have severe consequences.
  • If it's deep enough to ride, it's deep enough to slide (avalanche).
  • Be cautious of buried obstacles, especially below treeline.
