The avalanche hazard is moderate today for the upper elevations of Douglas Island with wet loose avalanches being the primary concern. These will tend to be on steeper slopes from point releases or from getting snow moving under foot but then have the ability to entrain much more snow as they move downslope. You can avoid these by staying away from steep slopes and by using good "sluff" management such as working from one side of the fall line to the other not skiing/riding straight down the fall line where the moving snow behind you has the potintial to catch up with you.

Wet loose avalanches generally start at a point and entrain more snow as they fan out moving downhill and are generally slow moving but can generate a lot of mass and are hard to escape from if caught.
Lots of wet loose activity was observed and reported yesterday and should continue to be the case today. Light winds and minimal precip overnight should leave things much the same as yesterday. There's a chance that a crust has formed overnight with temps staying below freezing, if that's the case wet loose activity will be limited until things warm throughout the day.
