Points saillants

Periods of sunshine and warm temperatures will increase the avalanche danger this afternoon. Wet slides will become possible at all elevations in very steep terrain and cliff areas. The chance for wet slab release will also become possible at the high elevations. Cornices are large and travel above them along ridgelines or under them on steep slopes should be avoided today. Evaluate snow and terrain carefully, especially once temperatures warm and soften the snow surface.

Avalanche Discussion

( Discussion is generated from the previous day's afternoon forecast. )An upper level disturbance and increased moisture from northwest flow bring the chance for periods of light snow to occur late tonight through Thursday evening. Accumulations of up to three inches are possible at the higher elevations, although these amounts are expected to be localized with some areas seeing little or no snow. Southwest wind are to increase to thirty five mile an hour averages and high temperatures are to be about five degrees colder than today. The general avalanche hazard is expected to be Low in the morning and could increase to Moderate in the afternoon if significant warming again occurs and the chance for wet slab or wet loose activity increases.
