Fresh snow and west winds continue to deepen recent wind-formed slabs that you can trigger. Look for and avoid wind-drifted slopes over 35 degrees. These will be most likely near ridgecrests and on corniced slopes. 

Moderate to strong winds continue to drift large amounts of snow and increase the size of potential wind slabs.  Avalanches are most likely to start on leeward, wind-loaded slopes near and above treeline. Watch for blowing snow, wind-stiffened snow, drifts, and cracks shooting through the snow as a sign that you could trigger a wind slab. Use caution on slopes steeper than 35 degrees especially where you find wind drifted snow. Give wide berth to cornices which will have formed over wind-loaded slopes.

New snow is beginning to settle, but where you find significant accumulations of fresh snow you may be able to trigger a storm slab avalanche on terrain steeper than 35 degrees. Steer around convex rolls and steep mid-slope terrain features where triggering a slab is most likely. Use extra caution near cliffs and creeks where the consequence of a small avalanche will be magnified. 

Sun breaks are possible Saturday. If you are in terrain that is getting sunshine and you notice, roller balls on the snow surface, dripping water from trees, or a sudden increase in "tree-bombs" the sun is likely weakening the surface snow. If you notice these signs, choosing lower angle terrain or seeking shaded slopes will help you avoid triggering a wet loose avalanche.

The threat of larger avalanches running on deeper persistent weak layers still exists. It has been more than a week since any avalanche activity has been confirmed on these layers in neighboring forecast zones. While it is becoming less likely to trigger an avalanche on these deeper layers, the consequences will be deadly. Play it conservative by choosing low-angle terrain and staying out from under large open slopes.

A natural avalanche cycle occurred on Monday as temperatures warmed and heavy snow mixed with rain or freezing rain.  Wednesday's sunshine likely settled much of the snow received Tuesday with the exception of windblown areas near ridge crests.
