Points saillants

The avalanche danger is LOW, and generally safe conditions exist in the backcountry today. Recent storm snow did a good job covering up most earthly objects, but continue to use caution skiing or snowmobiling through soft, deep snow.  Wind blowing out of the S-SW will increase tonight.  Stay attentive near and above treeline for wind loaded slopes.

Everitt Memorial Highway is scheduled to open at noon.

Avalanche Discussion

Everitt Memorial Highway (EMH) and Castle Lake Roads are closed. Yesterday 12.17.21, a grader, plow truck and rotary blower were all working on the EMH in the afternoon. Latest word is that EMH will open by noon today.

Pilgrim Creek and Deer Mountain Snowmobile Parks are OPEN. These are the best places for snowmobiling at this time. Some grooming operations have commenced. Click here for a map and more info

Mount Shasta Ski Park is OPEN - Check it!  https://www.skipark.com/
