Avalanche Activity

Wind slabs at high altitude. Wet snow at intermediate altitudes.

Especially adjacent to ridgelines and in gullies and bowls and on wind-loaded slopes individual small slab avalanches are possible above approximately 1800 m. In gullies and bowls individual small moist and wet avalanches are possible at intermediate altitudes.

Snowpack Structure

The snowpack will be subject to considerable local variations. At intermediate altitudes a little snow is lying. The fresh and older wind slabs are to be found in particular in gullies and bowls, and behind abrupt changes in the terrain. The snowpack will be generally well bonded. Up to intermediate altitudes rain fell on Saturday. These weather conditions gave rise to increasing and thorough wetting of the snowpack especially at intermediate altitudes.
