Avalanche Activity

Heavy rain and warm weather will drench the snowpack.

During Saturday, the weather in the mountains of Slovakia will be influenced by a departing wavy cold front, which will bring rain in the morning in many places. The snow limit will be up to 1800 m above sea level. For the Fatra Mountains and the eastern part of the Low Tatras there is a moderate avalanche danger - the second level of the 5-part international scale. The main avalanche problem will be wet snow. The snow will be intensively soaked and heavy due to rain. Slopes with visible crevasses will be the most dangerous. In these places, spontaneous foundation avalanches from wet snow may also occur during the day.

Snowpack Structure

At the lowest altitudes, the snow cover is no longer continuous. It will be wet in the mid-altitudes and later in the day it will become soaked. As the afternoon and night approaches, the snow cover will begin to harden, which will have a positive effect on its stability.

Tendency

Persistent during the day, decreasing as evening approaches. Compiled By : Martin Buliak
