Avalanche Summary

You can easily trigger a large and dangerous avalanche that breaks wider and runs further than you might expect. You can trigger these avalanches from below a slope or from a distance. Conservative decision-making is essential for safe backcountry travel. You may not experience as many signs of instability such as shooting cracks and collapsing in the snowpack as in the past few days but don't let your guard down. This does not mean that these slopes are safe to travel on, it just means that the weak snow is buried deeper here. Avoid slopes steeper than 30 degrees with no similarly steep slopes above or near you. You may be able to find safer travel options on south and southwest-facing slopes that were bare ground in late November.
