You can trigger s potentially dangerous avalanches in the recent storm snow on most steep slopes regardless of aspect or elevation. Avalanches in the storm snow can step down into a more deeply buried weak layer, resulting in un-survivable avalanches. Avoid slopes with lens-shaped pillows of snow. Slopes less than 30 degrees offer safer travel options.
You may also be able to trigger a Loose Wet avalanche as temperatures rise throughout the day. Combined with a terrain trap, these avalanches could gain enough mass to knock you off your feet and go for a nasty. If you start to see roller balls or fan-like point releases from cliffs or exposed rocks, it is time to seek colder snow or call it a day.
