These slabs lie upon a persistent weak layer and could release after a slope has been lightly tracked. Avalanches below 7500 feet are unlikely today except for in isolated pockets.
Slabs that are medium hard to hard lie upon surface hoar that formed prior to the last storm cycle. These slabs have depths of one to two feet. Although the slabs have become less likely to trigger, they could still release to the weight of a single person in some areas of steep avalanche terrain.
