Wind slab
- Above 2,100 m
Slab avalanches and moist and wet avalanches are possible from the morning.
Slab avalanches and moist and wet avalanches are possible from the morning.
As a consequence of a strong wind from easterly directions, sometimes large wind slabs will form in particular adjacent to ridgelines and in gullies and bowls as well as above approximately 2200 m. In particular on very steep slopes the avalanches can be triggered in the various wind slab layers. As a consequence of warming wet and gliding avalanches are possible from the early morning, in particular medium-sized ones.
As a consequence of rising temperatures and rain up to approximately 2100 m a crust formed on the surface during the last few days. Individual weak layers exist in the snowpack in particular on shady slopes. The wind slabs are bonding poorly with the old snowpack.
