TO for 16/3. Localised windslab, then wet snow instabilities on all aspects above 700 metres. Cornice collapse! Av Hazard -Moderate.

Forecast Snow Stability: Localised areas of windslab will initially be present on all aspects above 700 metres. There will be a period of reduced stability in the morning as the temperature rises and snow turns to rain, when wet snow instabilities will develop. Cornices will be prone to collapse. The avalanche hazard will be Moderate.

Snowpack Structure

Forecast Weather Influences: The freezing level will rise above the summits during the night. Light snow showers in the evening, turning to heavier rain during the day. Moderate to fresh South-Easterly winds. Observed Weather Influences: It was dry day with moderate Southerly winds. The freezing level was around 600 metres. ObservedSnowStability: Localised areas of moderately bonded windslab are present on all aspects above 700 metres. At lower elevations the snowpack is consolidating and generally stable. The avalanche hazard is Moderate.
