Avalanche Activity

The wind slabs can still be released in some cases in particular on very steep shady slopes.

The wind slabs are to be found adjacent to ridgelines and in pass areas and generally at elevated altitudes. They can be released, especially by large additional loads,. The wind slabs are to be avoided in particular in terrain where there is a danger of falling. Even a small avalanche can sweep people along and give rise to falls. In steep terrain there is a danger of falling on the hard snow surface.

Snowpack Structure

The conditions are wintry at high altitude. In some cases the wind slabs have bonded still only poorly. Low and intermediate altitudes and very steep sunny slopes: The conditions are spring-like. In all altitude zones less snow than usual is lying.
