Avalanche Activity

Wind slabs are to be evaluated with care and prudence.

The storm force wind has transported the fresh and old snow significantly. The fresh and older wind slabs represent the main danger. Avalanches can in isolated cases be released by small loads and reach medium size. This applies in particular at transitions from a shallow to a deep snowpack, as well as in gullies and bowls, and behind abrupt changes in the terrain. Between approximately 2400 and 3000 m the avalanche prone locations are more prevalent.

Snowpack Structure

In particular at elevated altitudes snow depths vary greatly, depending on the infuence of the wind. Sunshine and high temperatures gave rise to consolidation of the snowpack at low and intermediate altitudes. At low and intermediate altitudes only a little snow is lying.

Tendency

The avalanche danger will persist.
