A welcome refresh! Roughly 10cm of snow fell Sunday night improving the skiing tremendously.

    Incoming snow and wind will form wind slabs on Monday. These may be more touchy where they overlie a crust.

Weather Forecast

Tuesday will see an additional 10cm of snow by the evening. A day time high of -5 and the winds will be moderate out of the SW. Clouds may clear mid day for a brief period.

Avalanche Summary

Forecasters travelled S aspects today and noted no instabilities at this time. Winds were strong today and obvious loading and transport was observed. 

Snowpack Summary

10 cm of new snow now sits on top of old supportive crusts. This new snow is bonding well with the old surfaces due to the warm temperatures. Wind slabs are likely in lee and cross loaded features with todays strong to extreme S-SW winds.

Terrain and Travel

  • Fresh wind slabs will likely form throughout the day, diligently watch for changing conditions.
  • Avoid slopes that sound hollow or drum-like.
