Avalanche Summary

You can easily trigger a small avalanche on most steep slopes where you find more than about a foot of new snow. Most of these avalanches will be small but they can knock you over and drag you into a creek or off a cliff so be aware of these kinds of terrain traps below you. You can find safer travel options where there is less than about ten inches of new snow on slopes with no terrain traps below you or stick to slopes less than about 30 degrees steep.
