Avalanche Summary

Steep, wind-drifted slopes are the main hazard to identify and avoid. You can trigger an avalanche where stiffer slabs have formed over weaker layers and crusts. Additional snowfall and easterly winds could build drifts in unusual places, so stick to wind-sheltered slopes to help stay safe.

If the sun pops out, watch for snow surfaces on southerly slopes to become wet and unstable. Pinwheels and rollerballs are good early indicators of this problem.
