Points saillants

At the mid and upper elevations strong and gusty west-southwest winds will be forming new dense slabs up two feet in depth on leeward aspects. These slabs are likely to be easily triggered on steep wind loaded aspects. Natural activity is possible and the potential exist for these slabs to step down into basal layers of buried surface hoar and faceted snow. At the lower elevations strong winds will form pockets of slab up to 18 inches in depth that could be triggered in some steep shaded starting zones underlain by a basal layer of faceted snow.
