Points saillants
The general avalanche hazard is CONSIDERABLE in steep avalanche terrain where dense slabs formed by west to southwest winds 2 to 4 feet in depth lie upon weak faceted October snow. These dangerous slabs could be triggered by riders or skiers. On Sunday afternoon a backcountry skier was completely buried and rescued by his companions on the west side of the Tetons. Avalanches are unlikley in areas not underlain by old snow layers.
