Points saillants

The General Avalanche Hazard is MODERATE. Areas of unstable surface slab one to three feet in depth exist on very steep wind loaded slopes and in some areas deeply buried weak layers of faceted snow persist and present the potential for very dangerous deep hard slabs to be triggered by backcountry travelers. Temperatures are expected to rapidly warm during the day. The potential to trigger these slabs will increase as the day warms. The consequences of triggering one of these slabs are severe. High marking is not recommended today. Strong sunshine combined with rapid warming may also initiate loose snow sluffs, pinwheels, rollerballs and cornice drops on very steep sunlit aspects.
