Points saillants

At the mid and upper elevations new snow and wind will begin to form pockets of new soft slab on leeward aspects. These slabs will be forming on hard old snow surfaces and weak layers of surface hoar and therefore will be easy to trigger. Some potential exist for these slabs to step down to deep buried layers of persistent instability on very steep slopes that have not had recent avalanche activity. Avalanches are unlikely at the lower elevations.
