Avalanche Activity

New snow represents the main danger.

As a consequence of new snow and wind the size of the avalanche prone locations will increase. New snow and wind slabs can be released by small loads and reach medium size. In particular on very steep slopes and adjacent to ridgelines and in pass areas small and medium-sized natural dry avalanches are possible.

Snowpack Structure

The strong wind has transported some snow. The fresh snow and the wind slabs to be found in particular in northwest to north to northeast facing aspects are lying on top of a quite favourable old snowpack above approximately 2000 m. The fresh snow as well as the wind slabs are bonding poorly with the old snowpack in some places.
