Avalanche Activity

Individual avalanche prone locations are to be found on wind-loaded slopes at elevated altitudes.

In some localities 5 to 10 cm of snow fell yesterday above approximately 1700 m. As a consequence of new snow and wind from northeasterly directions, rather small wind slabs formed. These can in some places be released, in particular by large loads. In particular on wind-loaded slopes the avalanches can be released in the various wind slab layers and reach medium size.

Snowpack Structure

In some regions 5 to 10 cm of snow fell yesterday above approximately 1700 m. High altitudes and the high Alpine regions: Over a wide area various wind slab layers are lying on a hard crust. In the vicinity of peaks snow depths vary greatly, depending on the infuence of the wind.
