Avalanche Activity

Moist and wet avalanches are the main danger. Slab avalanches are possible in isolated cases as before.

As a consequence of warming, the likelihood of moist and wet avalanches being released will increase in particular on steep sunny slopes. In particular on steep sunny slopes medium-sized and, in isolated cases, large moist and wet avalanches are possible as a consequence of warming.

Snowpack Structure

In gullies and bowls above approximately 1800 m a lot of snow is lying. The spring-like weather conditions from the early morning will give rise to increasing moistening of the snowpack. These conditions will cause a gradual weakening of the snowpack.
