Avalanche Activity

Fresh wind slabs at intermediate and high altitudes.

As a consequence of northwesterly wind, sometimes avalanche prone wind slabs formed. The fresh wind slabs can be released by a single winter sport participant in some cases in particular on north to northeast to southeast facing aspects and generally at intermediate and high altitudes. The more recent wind slabs are to be bypassed in very steep terrain.

Snowpack Structure

The snowpack will be well bonded below approximately 2000 m. In isolated cases new snow is lying on a hard crust. In all regions only a small amount of snow is lying for the time of year.
