Avalanche Summary

You can trigger an avalanche that breaks in recently wind-drifted snow, mostly on north through east to southeast-facing slopes near and above treeline. You also might be able to trigger a larger and more destructive avalanche on deeper buried weak layers several feet deep. To reduce your chances of being caught in an avalanche avoid wind-loaded slopes at higher elevations and avoid uneven, rocky slopes and likely shallow spots such as a convex rollover.
