Points saillants

The general avalanche hazard is LOW. The snowpack is mostly stable. Low hazard does not mean no hazard and isolated terrain features could hold unstable snow, particularly very steep terrain near cliff bands.

Avalanche Discussion

( Discussion is generated from the previous day's afternoon forecast. )Periods of light snow will continue Monday night then an area of low pressure will move over the region Tuesday bringing more widespread snow with accumulations of 2 to 3 inches by Tuesday evening. Temperatures Tuesday morning will be in the low teens then warm to the low 20s during the day. Ridge top winds will be southwesterly at 25 miles per hour with stronger gusts. The general avalanche hazard will be MODERATE in the Tetons and Greys River areas. Constant west and northwest winds will continue to build easily triggered soft slabs to a foot in depth on lee slopes at elevations above 9000 feet. In the Togwotee pass area the hazard will be LOW. The snowpack is mostly stable but skiers, riders or snowmachiners on very steep, extreme slopes or cliff areas could trigger avalanches to two feet in depth.
