Points saillants

The general avalanche hazard is LOW today. Below 8,500 feet shallow accumulations of new snow lie upon bare ground and avalanches are unlikely. Above 9,000 feet backcountry users could trigger isolated pockets of soft slabs up to 12 inches deep on steep wind loaded North facing slopes.

Avalanche Discussion

( Discussion is generated from the previous day's afternoon forecast. )Skies are expected to remain mostly clear through Thursday with lows in the single digits in the mountains and daytime highs reaching into the thirties. The General Avalanche Hazard is expected to be LOW. Although some strengthening has occurred, the potential remains to trigger isolated pockets of soft slab in very steep terrain where old snow exists, particularly near cliff edges.
