Avalanche Summary

A recent avalanche was reported near Buffalo Pass in steep, rocky, north-facing terrain. This is the most likely place to trigger an avalanche that breaks several feet deep on weak layers buried in early March. Use caution in all areas near ridgetop and higher elevations where strong westerly winds deposited thick slabs on easterly-facing slopes. Besides the two mentioned areas, caution should also be used for wet avalanches on steep, rocky, sunny slopes in the middle of the day. If the snow feels wet, move to slopes receiving less direct sun.
