Avalanche Summary

You can trigger a dangerous avalanche on a layer of weak snow buried several feet below the snow surface. You might be able to travel on a slope numerous times before triggering an avalanche so remember that tracks on a slope don't mean it is safe. The most dangerous areas are northerly and easterly-facing slopes with convex rollovers and rock or vegetation disturbances beneath the snow. Southerly-facing slopes and wind-sheltered areas at lower elevations offer safer travel options.
