They can be released easily, even by a single winter sport participant,. Avalanches can additionally to some extent be released in deeper layers. Small to medium-sized avalanches are possible. The avalanche prone locations are to be found adjacent to ridgelines and in gullies and bowls and at transitions from a shallow to a deep snowpack. These avalanche prone locations are quite prevalent and are barely recognisable for beginners. Remotely triggered avalanches are possible in isolated cases. Gliding avalanches can also occur.
