Avalanche Activity

New snow represents the main danger.

The snowpack will be generally well bonded. In steep terrain there is a danger of falling on the hard crust. As a consequence of new snow and wind the prevalence of the avalanche prone locations will increase in the afternoon. Several mostly small dry avalanches are to be expected as a consequence of new snow and strong wind.

Snowpack Structure

Only a little snow is lying. As a consequence of rising temperatures and solar radiation a crust formed on the surface during the last few days, in particular on sunny slopes, as well as on shady slopes below approximately 2400 m. The new snow will become increasingly prone to triggering in particular on steep shady slopes.
