Points saillants

The general avalanche hazard is MODERATE above an elevation of 8,000 feet and LOW below that elevation. At the mid and upper elevations skiers and riders could trigger slab avalanches in steep terrain. Avalanches are not expected at the lower elevations.

    Dense slabs that were formed last week lie upon buried surface hoar. On steep north facing aspects, above an elevation of 9,000 feet, weak faceted snow may persist at the base of the snowpack. Surface slabs with depths to three feet could be triggered by the weight of a person and have potential to step down to the ground in isolated areas. Most terrain will show stability however areas of instability persist in isolated areas.

A couple of inches of new snow are possible overnight and again on Monday. Temperatures in the mountains will be in the teens and 20s. Winds will remain light and veer towards the north.The general avalanche hazard remains MODERATE above an elevation of 8,000 feet. Some potential may remain for humans to trigger dense surface slabs one to three feet in depth in steep terrain. The hazard below 8,000 feet is expected to be LOW.
