Avalanche Summary

You can trigger an avalanche on wind-drifted slopes near and above treeline. Some avalanches will remain confined to recent storm layers, but in large alpine features, some avalanches might break deeper. Northerly and easterly-facing terrain is the most dangerous. Choose slopes less than about 30 degrees, or wind-sheltered northerly-facing slopes for safer options.

Wednesday's warm weather will allow snow surfaces to become wet, so in the afternoon you can trigger wet avalanches. Move off steep slopes once the snow surface becomes sticky. Avoid traveling above terrain traps where a small avalanche could magnify the consequences of getting caught.
