Avalanche Summary

You can easily trigger a dangerous avalanche that breaks within new snow from this past weekend. Some avalanches might release spontaneously on wind-loaded terrain features above the treeline. Avoid traveling on or underneath slopes steeper than around 35 degrees at higher elevations and give cornices and the edges of ridgelines a wide berth.

You might be able to trigger a large and destructive avalanche that breaks on weak snow near the ground. The weak snow is buried around six to nine feet deep on most slopes so by avoiding shallow areas such as a rock outcrop, slopes that previously avalanched this season, and uneven, rocky slopes, you can reduce your chances of triggering an avalanche that entrains the entire season's snowpack.
