Avalanche Summary

You could trigger avalanches on steep slopes where you find a cohesive slab of snow. The more dangerous slopes face northeast and east in the alpine, where recent westerly winds loaded slopes and stiffened snow.

Look for and avoid pillowy or lens-shaped drifts, especially if they feel stiff. Cracking in the snow is a sign that you've found an area where recent snow has transitioned to a slab and an indication to avoid steep slopes.

Safer riding conditions can be found on wind-protected, less steep slopes.
