Avalanche Summary

Although unlikely, you could still trigger an avalanche if you find a place with a hard, wind-drifted slab over weak layers near the ground. These spots will be in alpine terrain directly below ridgetop or a cross-loaded gully. It's almost always a good idea to steer clear of steep areas with impenetrable snow.
