CM for 07/03/23 Weak new windslab on E to S aspects above 950m. Avalanche Hazard - Moderate.

Forecast Snow Stability: Soft, weak windslab will be more extensive on steep East to South aspects above 950 metres with new fragile cornice development anticipated. Better stability at lower elevations, on less steep ground and wherever the old mature snow is exposed and scoured. The avalanche hazard will be Moderate.

Snowpack Structure

Forecast Weather Influences: Moderate to fresh Northerly, later North Westerly winds. Only occasional light snow showers are forecast. Very cold temperatures. Observed Weather Influences: Much colder. Light snow showers. Light to moderate North-West winds. ObservedSnowStability: Localised weak windslab build up on steep East to South-East aspects above 950 metres; better stability at lower altitudes. Recent cornice triggered avalanche activity this morning, high on a South-East aspect in Coire Chriochairein. 4cm of fresh snow on the ground in most places above 700 metres. The patchy mature snowpack is hard or firm where scoured. The avalanche hazard is Moderate.
