Forecast Snow Stability: Weakly bonded windslab will continue to build in wind sheltered locations, primarily on North to South-East aspects above 750 metres. Exposed ridges currently scoured will appear more wintry but accumulations will be minimal. The avalanche hazard will be Moderate.

Snowpack Structure

Forecast Weather Influences: Overnight there will be moderate strength Westerly winds and with snowfall above 300 metres. By morning the winds will have backed Southerly and decreased in strength. The day will be dry. The freezing level will be around 400 metres throughout the forecast period. Observed Weather Influences: A dry overcast day with light to moderate variable winds. Freezing initially at all levels valley temperatures reached plus 5c by early afternoon. ObservedSnowStability: Accumulations of loose unconsolidated snow have accumulated in high wind sheltered locations on most aspects. On North to East aspects above 750 metres areas of moderately bonded windslab persist. Many upper slopes and ridges are wind scoured. The avalanche hazard is Moderate.
