Points saillants
The general avalanche hazard is CONSIDERABLE today. Eighteen inches of snow with strong winds over the past two days have combined to create slabs to two feet in depth on lee slopes. The new snow came in on light density snow that sits on smooth crusts. This slippery situation will make slides easily triggered by backcountry travelers. Colder temperatures will stabilize the surface snow but this may only allow riders to reach a more dangerous point on a slope before release occurs.
