Avalanche Summary

You can trigger an avalanche large enough to kill you on many slopes today. Recent storm snows have buried weak layers deeply, but if you find a thin spot on the slope you could trigger a dangerous avalanche. You may be the 7th person to cross a slope before it slides. Reduce your risk by avoiding thinner places where you may more easily trigger a slide, such as roll-overs or rocky spots. Consider the consequences of a big avalanche before you commit to steep terrain.
