Avalanche Summary

A potent storm will drop a lot of snow quickly. You can easily trigger a slab avalanche where strong westerly winds drift snow onto steep north and east-facing slopes at upper elevations. In continuously steep wind-sheltered terrain, you can trigger long-running loose avalanches as a foot or more of new snow accumulates.
