Points saillants

A stable early season snowpack exists and avalanche activity is not expected today. New snow will fall on a variety of snow surfaces including hard crusts and faceted snow such as surface hoar. Daytime accumulations of this snow will be light and will not significantly increase the avalanche hazard.

( Discussion is generated from the previous day's afternoon forecast. )A fast moving system will bring increased clouds overnight with light snow possible by morning. During the day on Friday up to four inches is expected in the mountains with another one to three inches possible Friday evening as the storm exits the area. Southwest winds with 25-35 mph averages are to accompany this storm. Highs on Friday to be in the upper teens to low twenties. The avalanche hazard is expected to be Low. In the afternoon isolated pockets of shallow surface slabs may form near ridge crests and areas prone to wind loading.
