Points saillants

At the upper elvations soft slabs up to three in depth formed by west winds exist. These slabs lie upon sun crust and layers of lighter density snow. At the mid elevations soft slabs to two feet in depth lie upon sun and rain crusts. Yesterday a two foot deep soft slab was skier triggered on an east-northeast aspect at an elevation of 8,000 feet on a steep rollover in the Pinedale Canyon area south of the Jackson Hole Mountain Resort. Similar events are likely to occur today. At the lower elevations avalanches are unlikley except in isolated pockets.
